Center Vision & Mission

Vision

To create a membrane-based downstream purification platform for the future large scale biomanufacturing of viral vectors and virus-like particles (VLPs) for gene therapy and vaccine applications to replace the current processes such as centrifugation and resin-based chromatography that are difficult to scale up.

Mission

  • Catalyze the future continuous biomanufacturing by creating a membrane purification platform for the production of virus particle-based therapeutics via multi-disciplinary collaboration among three EPSCoR jurisdictions and improve the infrastructure of these states.

  • Develop future biomanufacturing workforce by providing unique training opportunities for our junior faculty members, graduate, and undergraduate researchers.

  • Promote diversity, inclusion and equity by involving women and minority faculty and student researchers.
